'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range strike from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess quickly converted the rebound before charging toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This completed an incredible recovery given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result earned a upcoming match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about way out going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the simple things and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're all right and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It takes a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has rapidly done the same in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford, before he departed Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the past five games, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His only game for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was chilly," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a minibus driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. Franco is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
