19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.
Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.
But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.
He rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, he secured the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
