Automobiles in German City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were alerted by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Police then discovered many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state early analysis indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior official stated the vandalism made him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
